Trip to Steamboat Springs

Experience Steamboat Springs CO

Posted on 12/12/2020

Is a ski trip on your bucket list? Well, it was on mine and I was lucky enough to hit the slopes last weekend. This was my second time skiing and my first time to Colorado and all I can say is "WOW" - now I know why people move there.

I wanted to create this blog for a couple reasons...

  1. To share some of the best parts of the trip!
  2. To share how Steamboat kept their guests and employees safe.

Let's start with some of the best parts of the trip... and of course that was the skiing. The skiing was incredible. Yes - my only other experience skiing is at Hidden Valley (a hill) in Missouri - BUT it truly was the best. Unfortunately, a majority of the runs were closed because of the lack of snow this early in the season but it really didn't effect our group and we skied for three days. Our group also enjoyed the daily happy hour at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas (literally right next to the base of the mountain). Everyday but Saturday their resort bar offered happy hour from 3pm-5pm - so when the lifts closed at 4pm we were able to enjoy some delicious hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps to end our day. And finally, other than skiing, an absolute MUST DO in Steamboat Springs is a visit to the Strawberry Hot Springs. Our group took a shuttle to the hot springs (which I highly recommend) and made reservations for 90 minutes in one of their natural hot spring pools. We visited the hot springs at 7pm and it the most magical experience. We saw about 10 shooting stars. I promise you will not be disappointed!!

And of course I wanted to let everyone know how safe our group felt during our stay at the Steamboat Grand Resort as well as on the mountain. Masks were always a mandate and the Ski Resort employees did an excellent job at politely enforcing. All the guests were on board and followed this mandate - which I appreciated and I know Steamboat appreciated as well. Restaurants and bars were also closed for indoor dining, for some this may have been a disappointment, but our group did not care one bit! We ordered groceries and also enjoyed a lunch on the mountain, while social distancing outside. I could go on and on about their other procedures and protocols, but please, if you have any interest in visiting Steamboat or another ski town in Colorado, reach out! I would love to help and answer any other specific questions you have.

This was the best trip during a Global Pandemic. I HIGHLY recommend our lodging accommodations and ski experience.
